How the club works

A travelling club, we come to you

Histoire d'Air is a travelling dive club in Martinique: we meet you at the pontoon closest to your chosen site, with all the equipment in our mobile base. You just book, and we take care of the organisation, the gear and the supervision.

Once you are kitted up, you step aboard and the adventure begins: a try dive, a guided dive or a full course. The formula suits divers passing through for a couple of days just as well as groups staying a whole week.

A holiday, not just a set of dives

Thanks to our network of partners, chosen for their quality, your diving combines easily with:

• canyoning sessions,
• hikes in unspoilt nature,
• a cruising weekend,
• or other sports and water activities.

We handle the whole schedule so your stay stays smooth, with no wasted journeys. Details are in the Multi-activities and Cruises sections.

Why a travelling club

A fixed club dives all year on the sites within reach of its own pontoon. We change our departure point according to the sites planned.

Our outings are decided in advance and published in our schedule, so you know where and when we dive before you even book. And if conditions or your own wishes call for it, we can still adjust.

Where we meet

Departures are usually from Anse à l'Âne, in Trois-Îlets, and from Saint-Pierre when the northern sites call for it. The meeting point depends on the sites planned that day.

That is the whole point of a travelling club: we do the driving, not you.

How a morning goes

We meet around nine, half past nine, directly at the departure point.

We start with coffee. We get the gear ready together, run the briefing, and off we go.

Back around midday. And we finish with a planteur, the local rum punch, while we talk over what we saw.

What we provide

All the diving equipment is included: wetsuit, BCD, regulator, fins, mask and snorkel. Bring your swimsuit and a towel.

Two exceptions: the dive computer and the torch stay personal equipment. We sometimes have spare torches, just ask.

The mobile base, and the shower

Our mobile base follows us everywhere. Over the years it has been a trailer, a fitted-out truck, and today a van. What never changes is what is inside: all the club equipment, and a built-in shower so you can rinse off before heading home.

That is what makes a travelling club possible. Without it we would need fixed premises, and you would be the ones travelling.

There is no notice period to respect. We work to order: tell us what you would like to do and when, and if we can, we will.

Age and medical certificate

A try dive is open from the age of eight.

A medical certificate is required for courses, and your doctor issues it. None is needed for a try dive.
